I have used Asus Zenfone 5 for around 7 months now. Only problem i faced was battery draining quickly due to constant use. Bough this one yesterday (21st Jan). Using it for a a day now and have seen battery backup better than the original Zenfone 5. The basic difference between this one and the original one is that they have different processor. This one comes with 1.2Ghz processor which actually helps for the cause. It consumes less battery due to under-clocking and certainly offers a decent backup now. Although its very early to say this but after using it for a day i have seen slow drainage while playing game and watching movies. Will update after 1 week of usage. Certainly its a very good buy. Just go for it. Update after 4 days : - battery improving after charge cycle. New firmware available, updated it and getting extended battery backup now. OTG is supported. can connect to wireless game-pads to play games too. Wireless connection to other devices available via miracast. Will update more after few days of usage. Overall a very butter smooth performance.

My review may not so helpful for the people who are buying the product , but certainly it cannot be ignored ; the first 3 things drawbacks that i encountered with this phone was :- 1) The battery life if small , the battery gets drained to 50% within 5 hours without any usage of any power consuming apps , games. For a 5 inch phone 2110mah battery is genuinely very less. 2) The phone gets heated up with continuous usage of 30 minutes . 3) It does not support OTG ( On The Go Media Transfer). 4) Their are no back lights for the touch keys at the bottom. 5) If u r thinking about loudspeaker then, u will be disappointed to know that loudspeaker voice is very low as compared to MOTOG & last one:- 6)pixel density is low i.e. 272ppi as compared to 336 of MOTOG My friends i don't want u all to get distracted from this astonishing smart phone , but i want u be aware of the facts before buying this product . Although i have only mentioned its drawbacks , but i have given a 5star rating to this product , because there is no such phone till now available in the market. Certainly tough competition to Moto G . All together a best buy for mid range smart brands.

I had just bought this phone yesterday.First reaction->absolutely amazing. This beats moto g in every aspect.Though moto g comes with a quad core, this is still better because it has 1.7ghz(Intel atom) compared to 1.2 ghz(Qualcomm snapdragon 400).Intel is always the better choice for processors.Screen size is quiet large but it comfortable to operate using one hand due to low width. Its thinner and longer. Both phones are quiet good looking. Both have an above average performance with the camera, but asus is still better because of low light stabilization and higher resolution.Memory is expandable upto 64gb in the case asus. Both phones have a 720p resolution which is good for playing hd videos.battery is slightly better for asus.asus has a 42 Mbps HSDPA whereas moto g only has a 21 Mbps HSDPA.the only reason you could prefer moto g is it has a higher pixel density 322 ppi compare to 270ppi of zenfone, but it wont make much diff because both can play hd videos with ease.IN OTHER WORDS.GO FOR IT

A bit lengthy but useful review : I'm using a HTC ONE and started looking for a secondary phone around 7k - 8k budget. By reading all the reviews of Xiaomi redmi 1s iv'e almost fixed for it. Later i got to know about Lenovo A6000 and my wait started for it. After the launch of it i couldn't get convinced by its colorful UI (looks like a video game). Then got a mail regarding re-launch of trimmed "ZENFONE 5", i just left it as there is a major battery defect in it. But after reading the reviews of new Zenfone 5 i blindly went for it as ASUS is a established & trsuted brand. After usage of 3 days, final verdict is : PROS: 1) Phone looks far better than Nexus 5 which i previously used before my HTC ONE. 2) 5" HD IPS Display is crisp & top notch, cant find pixels even when zoomed out for max. 3) No lag at all and UI looks good with a bit of bloatware. (Unlike samsung most of the apps are useful). 4) Build quality is solid and you'll get a feel of holding a premium handset. 5) Battery can easily last a day with moderate usage, but if gaming & browsing is continuously done you have to charge twice a day. 6) Call quality is good. ** Major advantage is ASUS promised Lollipop 5.0 update for this device ** CONS: 1) Becomes a bit warm with just 20 mins of gaming, but chills down within 1 minute. 2) Battery could have been at least 2500mah as it is dual sim. 3) Headset not provided. (Personally not a problem as it is my secondary phone). 4) A bit of noise while taking pictures in warm lighting conditions.

Update after 1 month of usage ----- Still the same awesomeness. Pictures are crystal clear and MICROFILM option is simple superb. I am loving that a lot. Battery performance is almost good. on 3g usage continuously i am getting 8-9 hours of battery life which is almost satisfactory. Google launcher is 10000 times better than Asus launcher. As usual flipkart rocked with speedy delivery and thanks for it. Zenfone 5 .. Extremely stylish finishing and bigger screen size. I feel there are 4-5 scrap apps which are pre-installed and can't be removed. Display is very smooth and almost zero lag. Even after installing and running multiple apps, 700+ mb RAM is still available. Considering the size of 5 inch mobile, Zenfone 5 is very light and handy to carry. Guaranteed ANDROID LOLLIPOP for zenfone 5 by April (confirmed by Asus on its forum) I feel mobile is very delicate and highly prone to dents and cracks in case of slips. Surprise element is price.. on box it is mentioned as 8499 and flipkart is selling for 7999 (although I got it for 7200 including one day delivery). Battery performance will be updated after fair amount of usage. one less star because of unavailability of accessories :( complete paisa vasool mobile.... go for it.

I bought the Zen 5 -16 GB variant. I don't know that I paid extra Rs. 3000 just for additional 8 GB memory was worth it or not considering no other specification difference. Wait to hear from those who bought 8GB variant. But the phone is excellent at the cost offered. More so may be for 8 GB variant. I can't give a technical review. Phone just looks, applications, photo, video the best in this price I can get. I just skipped Moto-G, I feel lucky with this device.

I recently bought a XOLO Q1010i and it was worth buying. Now I needed one more for myself and there came this ad in newspaper and I immediately started researching ASUS Zenfone 5. I on the same day preordered one. Hats off to flipkart. I ordered on Friday and got it on Monday. Now coming to the pros and cons: 1) Buttery smooth performance. Absolutely no lags. Games are running fast. 2) ZenUI is something different and nice. 3) Superslim and beautiful body. However its a bit slippery. 4) Gorilla screen makes for a hard screen. 5) Battery is OK, charges in 2 hours to 100%. 6) Audio quality is nice. Earphones give a theatre feel. 7) Screen quality is specless. Clarity is better than mentioned with dpi. 8) camera is cool. Good in low light conditions too. Of course there is Sony Sensor in that like Xolo Q1010i. ASUS has done good with its camera. Cons: 1) Speaker volume is not very loud. 2) Screen brightness is not much. But it is still very appealing. 3) It doesnt come with Flip cover or screen guard. Thats a big Loss. Flipkart is selling its cover for Rs. 1600/- which is way too costly. Please reduce its price. Flipkart offered the launch day offer 50% off on the purchase of flip cover. But the same day when I tried, it said "order cannot be shipped to my address". However no such error appeared the VERY next day. Flipkart look into such mistakes. Who is responsible for my loss now? Well till now no other problems till now. I am a happy customer. Cheers to ASUS.

I received the mobile with faulty microphone, I made a call to customer care to replace the same and they assured that the technical service team will call with in 4 working hours (So I was supposed to get the call by 12 PM), but no call back, I made repeated calls and they informed me that the tech people will call in 2 hrs. Today (27th May 2015) they are saying that the call will be made only on 28th May after 1 PM, this made issues in my travel plans, very bad customer service, needs to think back.
Trimmed Version of original Asus Zenfone 5 but offers better battery backup!
